Breda Cullen, PhD
Breda graduated from the Queen’s University of Belfast in Northern Ireland with BSc(Hons) and PhD in biochemistry, before going to Stony Brook University New York to undertake a postdoctoral position, studying the wound environment in non-healing wounds. While there, she was awarded the Albert Kligman prize in recognition of her contribution to dermatology, specifically understanding the role of proteases and growth factors in wound repair.
In 1994 Breda joined Johnson & Johnson and continued to work in chronic wound repair, most notably providing key supporting scientific data for PROMOGRAN, PROMOGRAN PRISMA. In 2006 she was awarded the Johnson Medal, the highest scientific award recognized within Johnson and Johnson for her work on collagen/ORC.
Breda has worked in industry for over 20 years continuing to advance clinical and scientific knowledge in the field of wound care. During her career, she has been responsible for initiating, leading & supporting clinical and scientific programmes within Research & Development, and for providing scientific & technical expertise to the organisation. This has led to over 30 patents, and over 75 scientific publications and posters.
