Melania Howell-Taylor, MD
Ms. Melania Howell-Taylor is a registered nurse with full scope certification in Wounds, Ostomy, and Continence care. Ms. Howell-Taylor is also a Diplomate of the American Wound Care Association. She practices in a 250-bed acute care hospital in an underserved area in California's Central Valley. She earned her Bachelor's degree with a major in Biology and minors in Chemistry and Mathematics in 2000. She took a brief hiatus to pursue her interest in business by working in finance for two years as an investment associate. She decided to revisit her passion for the sciences and medicine in particular by attending nursing school. She graduated with a BSN from Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing's accelerated program in 13 months. She started her nursing career at Johns Hopkins Hospital in cardiac critical care. She then transitioned to agency nursing and was a civilian contractor at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington D.C. There, she cultivated her interest in wound care. She is a graduate of Metropolitan State University's webWOC program with clinical performed at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Ms. Howell-Taylor has been a CWOCN since 2007. She is an author. Her first publication is titled “Pressure Wound Therapy for Infected Post Surgery Wounds: A Case Series.” She has participated in conferences by being a speaker
