Dr. Gardner is currently Professor and Vice Chairman, and Chief of Orthopedic Trauma at Stanford University. He spent the first 8 years of his career as an orthopedic trauma surgeon at Washington University in St. Louis. He first became involved in academic pursuits during his residency training at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, which included studies on fracture healing in mice as well as multiple clinical studies. He then completed an orthopedic trauma fellowship at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, WA. His strong interest in research has led to several federally funded grants, 154 publications, and three textbooks edited. He has an interest in the management of traumatic wounds.
